Mumbai, Jan 17: In a surprising incident, a person who had become the victim of drugging and robbery when travelling by train, succeeded in catching hold of one of the thieves two weeks after the incident. The person who did this adventure has been identified as Rajesh Kulal (31) from Panemangalore, Bantwal.

Immediately he held the shirt collar of one among the men and questioned him about the robbery. The other two immediately jumped out of the train and fled. With help from co-passengers, he succeeded in handing over the man to the police. The thief was identified as Deepak Sahu (35) from Madhya Pradesh. Rajesh had left Mumbai to Mangaluru on December 29 , 2018 for celebrating the birthday of his wife. As air fares had gone sky-high on account of New Year, he had started his journey at the last minute by train. He was travelling in the general compartment of Jamnagar express train as he hoped to get a seat at Ratnagiri.
When Rajesh spoke to his friends in the next compartment and returned to his seat, he saw three other men were also seated there. At around 6 pm, the men offered biscuits to Rajesh. After consuming biscuits and drinking water, Rajesh became unconscious. He was robbed of Rs 15,000 in cash, credit and debit cards, and two cell phones.
He was then taken out of the train at Kasargod railway station and sent back by a train going to Mangaluru central station. The next morning, he was found in an unconscious state in the railway platform at Mangaluru. His rib was injured due to the fall in the platform. The railway police got him treated at Wenlock Hospital there. Rajesh regained conscience three days later and then filed complaint in Mangaluru central railway station.
Rajesh says that the experience of being unconscious was like meeting death. He said he caught the thief as the agony and frustration he went through were haunting him. He said that the other two also could have been caught if the co-passengers had acted immediately. The thieves looked decent and in ordinary course no one would believe that they could be thieves, he said.
