Karkala: Bus-bike collision - rider dies, two injured

Karkala, Jan 16: A bus and a bike collided here on Wednesday, January 16 and the bike rider died on the spot. Two pillion riders sustained injuries.

Dinesh (26) from Kukkundoor is the deceased.

Murugesh and Velu are the pillion riders who were injured.

KSRTC bus was on its way to Udupi from Karkala. The bike rider tried to overtake a vehicle before banging into the bus coming from opposite direction, witnesses said.

    Authorities cannot do anything much to protect the two wheeler riders as most of them neglect their own safety. They think it is done for the sake of requirement from police and not for personal safety. They never wear helmet and even if they wear do not fasten the helmet, triple rides, dangerous overtaking and over speeding, using mobiles while riding, riding in parallel talking to each other and so on. So most of the time the two wheeler riders are themselves responsible for the casualties.

    I do not know, why the vehicle drivers want to take overtake. Just for few seconds mind control and following rules, could have saved the life of the 2 wheeler driver. Now all finished for Dinesh. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of the family..

    RIP.. SAD FOR PARENTS...
    Never ending accidents.... no 1 to protest against the traffic systems... standard roads, Speed limit, Radar / Traffic Cameras, Heavy penalties (Online payment to avoid corruption). Only such things will help to protect human life on roads.

    *Most of the 2 wheeler riders in Mangalore are so rude that they come in a opposite direction which is one way, that too without wearing helmet and double to triple ride.
    *Recent my visit to Mangalore I encountered one 2 wheeler overtaking me from left side where I have given left-indicator and slowdown to take a laft.

    THE KSRTC DRIVERS DONT EVEN CARE FOR OTHER ROAD USERS ESPECIALLY TWO WHEELER RIDERS. THEY OVERTAKE LIKE THEY ARE THE OWNERS OF THE ROAD. HERE, EVEN THE RIDER OF THE 2 WHEELER IS AT FAULT. HE WAS RIDING TRIPLE. WHY STRINGENT RULES ARE NOT IN PLACE? TRAFFIC POLICE FINE PEOPLE INSIDE THE CITY LIMITS FOR VARIOUS OFFENCES LIKE HELMET, SEAT BELT, TINT ETC. BUT WHAT ABOUT OUTSKIRTS? HOPE AT LEAST NOW THE THE ADMINISTRATION, TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT AND RTA DEPARTMENT GET UP FROM THE SLUMBER AND ACT ON. PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE..
