Bengaluru, Jan 15: BJP’s latest attempt as 'Operation Lotus 3.0' which is said to be aimed to topple the ruling coalition government seems to have a different agenda.
Political observers believe BJP’s 'Operation Lotus 3.0' aims to obtain power in Uttar Pradesh in the general elections. Than forming a government in Karnataka, by toppling the coalition it aims to tell the voters in UP that the SP and BSP alliance in UP will also meet with the same fate if voted to power.
'Operation Lotus' obtains the name from poaching of MLAs from other parties during BS Yeddyurappa's first stint as CM.
However, JD(S) Supremo seems unfazed with BJP tactics. “This is not the first time they are doing it. Let them try again. Yeddyurappa is desperate for power. But he will fail miserably,” Deve Gowda told media.
Political analysts believe that the BJP high command is trying to create a constitutional crisis in Karnataka. This will force the Governor to keep the state assembly under suspended animation till the Lok Sabha elections got over by sending its MLAs out of the state.
However, Congress is tensed and worried over disappearance of four of its MLAs.
To control damage, party general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, KC Venugopal, landed in Bengaluru on Monday morning and held an emergency meeting with state leaders including KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao, Deputy CM Dr. G Parameshwara and former CM Siddaramaiah to chalk out Congress' counter strategy.
Four Congress ministers even offered to resign to make way for disgruntled MLAs who are being wooed by the BJP.
However, by noticing the JD(S) leaders ‘relax’ mode and ‘tension’ among Congress leaders, it seems that JD(S) has pushed the responsibility of ‘saving the coalition’ on Congress party’s shoulders.
