Udupi: Three-day 'Niranthar Konkani Natakotsav' to delight audience from Jan 18

Udupi, Jan 15: For the first time in history, Konkani lovers will be treated to a mega three-day back-to-back 'Niranthar Konkani Natakotsav' by Niranthar Udyavar from January 18 to 20 at the premises of St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar.

Niranthar Udyavar came to existence to promote Konkani culture and language.

On the first day, Home Sweet Home, a play directed by Clanvin Kalakul will be enacted. Fr Stany B Lobo, chancellor of the diocese will inaugurate the function on January 18, while Roshu Bajpe, writer Wilson Kateel, lyricist Melwyn Noronha, vice president, parish pastoral council will be guests of honour.

'Ankvar Mestri' directed by Denis Monteiro and written by Amar Chafra will be staged on Saturday January 19. Fr Paul Rego, parish priest, Holy Cross Church Pamboor will be chief guest while Fr Chethan Lobo, editor Uzward fortnightly, Valerian M Alva, chairman, Moodubelle, Charitable Trust, Sr Wilma Pinto, headmistress, St Francis Xavier Kannada High School, will be guests of honour.

'Salgi…..marna sangi' written by Fr Alwyn Serrao and directed by Christopher Ninasam will be the third day’s show on Sunday January 20. Fr Alban D’Souza, parish priest Stella Maris Church Kalmady will be chief guest. John M Dsouza, play director, Amrith Shenoy, businessman, and Wilfred Dsouza, president Souharda Samiti Udyavar will be guests of honour.

The show will commence at 6.30 pm on all three days. Organisers request the audience to reserve their seats at the earliest. All three shows are played free of cost.
