Kasargod, Jan 15: As per information gathered by the police personnel of the district, Tasleem alias Muhataseem (38) who was arrested by the Delhi police on the charge of planning to eliminate certain Sangh Parivar leaders, has been closely associated with some people in the district. The police have now been keeping a constant vigil on them.
The special team of Delhi police has claimed that Tasleem had drawn up plan to murder some Hindu leaders in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts, and that he has contact with a terrorist organization.
The plan hatched by him was to eliminate Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, as well as Jagadish Shenava and Sharan Pumpwell, who are leaders of Hindu outfits. The report received by Karnataka police from Delhi states that the gang has also planned to execute this murder plan through suicide attack.
Tasleem's major profession was running liquor business in the Gulf. Because of certain differences which cropped up there, a gang had tried to kill him during his visit here, sources say.
District superintendent of police, Dr A Srinivas, said that the police force in the district has been kept on high alert in view of the arrest of a resident from the district. He said that as per information, Tasleem has contacts with certain people living in the northern side of the district and several police divisions including the special branch have been keeping close vigil on all kinds of illegal activities and people having links with subversive activities.
