Mangaluru, Jan 14: Youth Congress of the city has sought Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The district executive committee of Youth Congress met Sandeep Valmiki, national executive secretary, Youth Congress and in-charge of state Youth Congress on Sunday, January 13 and demanded to consider youths in upcoming elections. Sandeep Valmiki was in the city on a short visit.
“Without a young face it is very difficult to win in Dakshina Kannada constituency. In the last MLA election itself, it was proven that the people of district want young faces, who are more flexible in serving them. Being a young and energetic candidate, only U T Khader succeeded in retaining his seat. Youth Congress had demanded at least two seats in the last assembly elections. But it did not succeed to in getting the same. So it is a golden opportunity for the party leadership to consider a youth candidate for the DK Lok Sabha seat," the petition from block presidents said.
They also suggested Mithun Rai, president, district Youth Congress as the suitable candidate for the party. They expressed confidence in his candidature and assured collective effort for his victory.
They also warned that if youths are neglected in the upcoming elections, congress will fail to attract youths into the party and the members of youth congress will also get demotivated, which will reflect in the election campaign and other party programmes.
In his reply Sandeep Valmiki assured to consider the suggestions of the youth and convey the same to the state and national leadership. Keparaju, vice-president, state Youth Congress and Suhail Kandak briefed about upcoming youth congress programmes.
