Kasargod, Jan 12: Kochi branch of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case about seven young men from the state having left India to join terrorist organization, ISIS, and begun its probe.
NIA sources have confirmed that these seven youth had left Kerala on different dates. There is information that they have joined terrorist organizations, Jund Al-aqsa and Jabath al-Nusra.
During the period the agency was investigating cases of Malayalees from Kasargod and other districts having left India to become members of terrorist outfits, it stumbled on information about the seven men. NIA registered fresh FIR into the incident and investigation is on.
NIA says that most of these people have reached Syria. The agency has learnt that many youngsters were attracted towards ISIS since 2013, and people from Karnataka too have left the country to join this terrorist organization.
NIA has found that terrorist organizations continue to use social websites to contact young men and entice them into joining their outfits. Therefore, it has been making efforts to arrest the missing men with the help of Interpol.
