Mangaluru, Jan 12: The information that Pakistan-based terrorist organizations have been trying to target Karnataka coast to push terrorists into India has come as a bolt from the blue. The terrorists, who are reportedly planning 'Samundari Jihad' against India, are said to have trained teams of terrorists to swim even in the deep sea and survive for days. A team of terrorists with over a dozen members, it is said, has left Pakistan shore and the union home department, which has been alerted by the intelligence, has asked the navy and Coastal Security Force in Karnataka to be on high alert.
It is thought that the terrorists want to sneak into India through Karnataka coast as it is located close to Kerala, where the terrorists reportedly have sleeper cells. They probably have planned to forcibly hijack boats, tankers etc and use them to reach India and indulge in disruptive activities during Republic Day celebrations.
The incident, in which the 'Suvarna Tribhuja' fishing boat from Malpe with seven fishermen on board has gone missing, has come as a challenge for the intelligence department. There are no clues about either the boat's whereabouts or its fishermen, and only hypothetical theories are being floated as of now. Therefore, the prospects of the boat having been hijacked appear to be bright and the home department has asked navy and police personnel of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and neighbouring states also to keep a close watch on activities on the coast and increase security at these places, sources say.
