Bengaluru, Jan 8: As per information, case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against contractors who offered the lure of bribe to the minister concerned, Puttaranga Shetty. The police want to make use of the recent provision added to the act as per section 8 of which criminal case can be registered against those who offer bribe.
Contractors, Krishnamurthy, Shreenidhi, Anantu and Nandu have been named as accused in the case. When transferring the case, Vidhana Soudha police had recommended to the Anti Corruption Bureau, asking them to investigate the contractors under sections 7A, 7C and 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act.
S J Mohan
It is gathered that S J Mohan, employed in the office of minister, Puttaranga Shetty, had collected Rs 3.6 lac on January 4 from contractor, Anantu, Rs 15.9 lac from Nandu, two lac rupees from Shreenidhi, and Rs 4.26 lac from Krishnamurthy. He had kept this money in packets along with New Year greeting cards with name of the minister written on them.
Mohan Kumar and four contractors had allegedly made this arrangement. Mohan Kumar has been accused of acting as mediator in the case.
