Chitradurga, Jan 7: Former minister and current MLA of Hosadurga, Goolihatti Shekar who was in the news for tearing his clothes in the assembly, poured petrol on him in front of the police station and tried to commit suicide on Sunday night, January 6.
Lambasting sand mafia, he said that police are registering complaints against innocent people without controlling illegal sand business and attempted suicide. He is being treated in a hospital at present.
The MLA came in front of Hosadurga police station with his supporters saying that police are not responding to his complaints. “Then what is the purpose of my being MLA?” he said pouring petrol on him and was about to set fire to himself when his supporters stopped him.
Goolihatti Shekar became sick as petrol entered his mouth and ears and he was rushed to Hosadurga government hospital.
He is out of danger and the treatment is continued.
