Bengaluru, Jan 5: A person carrying Rs 25.76 lac unaccounted cash kept in four different covers inside a bag he was carrying on his two-wheeler was arrested by the security staff of Vidhana Soudha on Friday January 4. He was taken into custody from near the western gate of Vidhana Soudha.
The arrested man has been identified as an assistant working in the office of the minister for backward classes welfare, C Puttaranga Shetty. The incident has happened within months of the chief minister reiterating his resolve to root out corruption from Vidhana Soudha and seeking support of others in this drive.

Senior officers questioned Mohan till late night about the source of cash. A case relating to the incident was filed in Vidhana Soudha police station. Security deputy commissioner of police, Siddaraju, and assistant commissioner of police, Manjunath, are leading the investigation.
When the police, based on tip off, approached Mohan who was riding his motor bike out of Vidhana Soudha, the employee developed cold feet, took U-turn and tried to escape from another gate. But the police chased him in their jeep and nabbed him, it is said.
Minister, C Puttaranga Shetty, denied having anything to do with the said cash. He said that Mohan has been dismissed from his office forthwith and clarified that he would visit Vidhana Soudha on Saturday to look into the matter.
