Mangaluru Dec 29: "The second round of active case finding of TB campaign will be held from January 2 to 12 by the health department," informed district health officier Dr Ramakrishna Rao.
Addressing the media here on Saturday December 29, Dr Ramakrishna Rao said, "It has become a challenge to find active cases of TB and give proper treatment. Lack of awareness and carelessness of the people have made them victims of TB. As part of active case finding of TB campaign the first round was held from July 2 to 13 this year. In these 11 days of campaign, as many as 2,85,150 people were tested among which 44 cases were victims of TB.
"Total of 575 teams will take part in the second round of campaigning. As many as 1,150 health representatives will take part in the campaign which includes NGOs, Asha representatives and many others.
"Keeping Koraga, Malekudi, Adivasi community in mind, some high risk areas are recognized. Workers of stone quarry, people who migrated, ashrams, hostels, beedi workers will be tested. During the test, if TB cases are found, concerned people will be taken for further treatment. The symptoms of TB are cough for more
than two weeks, fever in the evening, lack of hunger, decrease in weight, blood while coughing."
