Udupi, Dec 24: Souharda Christmas was organised at Udyavar church ground on Sunday, December 23.
Journalist Rahim Ujire was the chief guest for the programme. Addressing the gathering he said, "The concept of unity in diversity of India will be meaningful when Christmas is celebrated in mosque, Diwali in churches and Eid in temples.
“The message of love and peace given by Jesus Christ is something which people need to follow irrespective of their religion.
“Today in our country we are seeing communal problems because the politicians are using religion as a tool while the religious leaders are into politics,” he said.
The guests cut a Christmas cake on the occasion. Souharda samiti Udyavara president Wilfred D’Souza presided over the programme. Brizith Cornelio, school correspondent, Alwyn Quadras and Neelananda Naik were guests of honour on the occasion.
Steevan compered while Abid Ali rendered the vote of thanks.
