Udupi, Dec 10: The fifth anniversary celebrations of Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital will be held here on Wednesday December 17. The hospital was set up at Doddanagudde, with a few beds which have now been upgraded to 70 beds with modern health care facilities, mainly catering to poor and low income groups.
The hospital has 25 wards including those for alcoholics, women psychiatric patients, gynaecology, and dental care. The programme will be presided over by U R Acharya, trustee, Dr M V Baliga Charities.
Infosys Technologies senior vice-president Ramdas Kamath, Mumbai income tax retired chief commissioner and income tax appellate tribunal member N R Prabhu, as well as physician and district IMA former president Dr R S Bhat, will be the chief guests on the occasion.
The newly set up inpatients’ library, trustees’ office, and pharmacy as well as the hospital's website www.avbmhospital.org will be inaugurated on Wednesday.
Dr A V Baliga Arogya Golden Cards will be distributed to 30 members of poor families of Kallianpur gram panchayat, on the occasion. Dr P V Bhandary, Dr U R Acharya, Dr R V Baliga and Dr Virupaksha Devaramani, were present at the press conference.
