Mangaluru, Dec 12: Naman Ballok Jesu, Konkani monthly, as part of its decennial year celebration, organised 'Carmel Carols 2018', carol singing competition on December 9.
Carmelite brothers invoked God’s blessings on the event by singing a Konkani carol composed by Fr Alwyn Sequeira Ocd. The event was inaugurated by Sangeeth guru Joel Pereira who played a melodious carol, ‘Oh come all ye faithful’ accompanied by drum beats by Fr Wilfred Rodrigues, superior, St Joseph’s Monastery, Carmel Hill. 25 groups from various parishes and institutions participated and nearly 700 people enjoyed the melodious carols.
The competition was in three categories and the winners are:
Under 18
Winners – Ranipura Parish
Runners - Blue Angels Junior
Religious category
Winners – Apostolic Carmel
Runners - Our Lady of Fathima
Above 18
Winners – Blue Angels Choir
Runners: Mistletoe Rings
The winners received a trophy of cash prize Rs 5,000 and 2,500 each. The judges of the competition were Fr Alwyn Sequeira Ocd, Fr Maxim D Souza, Jeppu Seminary and Babitha Dsa. Fr Pius James D Souza distributed the prizes and congratulated the winners. Fr Prakash D Cunha, shrine director and Fr Jocy, editor of Naman Ballok Jesu were also present.
