Bangalore, Dec 3: The election commission is expected to issue by-election notification for the eight assembly constituencies in the state, seats of which have fallen vacant. With this, the constituencies which will be going to the polls, are bracing up for intensive electioneering.
The deputy commissioners of the districts in which the constituencies are located will issue election notifications. Filing of nominations is set to commence from today itself.
Hukkeri and Arabhavi in Belgaum district, Karwar in Uttara Kannada district, Madhugiri and Turuvekere in Tumkur district, Doddaballapur in Bangalore rural district and Devadurg in Raichur district are the constituencies where by-poll is being held, as the elected legislators deserted their parent parties and joined the BJP during the 'Operation Kamala'. Maddur seat in Mandya district fell vacant after the JD (S) MLA Siddaraju breathed his last. The by-poll is slated for December 27.
The filing of nomination papers will continue till December 10. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on December 11, while December 13 will be the last day for the withdrawal of nominations. Counting of votes will be held on December 30.
