Puttur, Dec 1: ‘Patala- 75 Sambrama’, was arranged as part of the birth celebrations of Venkataramana Bhat, at his house on Sunday November 30.
Artistes perform to gain self-satisfaction. The effort of art and artistes succeeds when the audience praises heartily, said Prof M L Samaga, senior artiste. Keshavananda Bharati Swamiji, Edaneeru Math, said that Yakshagana is an art between the people. The changes in cultural history of the society are identified by Yakshagana through its heritage. The artistes work hard to enrich this art and Patala Venkataramana Bhat is an apt example, he said.
Venkataramana Bhat and his wife were felicitated on the occasion. Other artistes such as Shivappa, and Peruvodi Narayana Bhat, were also felicitated at the event. Muliya Shankar Bhat, Ganaraj Bhat, Mahalinga Bhat, and Shriram Patala, organized various programmes. ‘Tenku Tittu’ artistes presented Yakshagana Talamaddale in the morning and evening.
Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kumble Sundar Rao, president, Yakshagana Academy, Shakuntala Shetty, former MLA, Mohammed Anwar, artiste, and Perla Krishna Bhat, senior scholar, were present on the occasion.
