Panaji: Ban on fish from other states to continue, says health minister of Goa

Panaji, Dec 2: Vishwajit Rane, health minister of the state of Goa has made it clear that till the fish merchants and transporters from outstation states follow the instructions of Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the ban on the import of outside states into Goa will not be lifted.

Clarifying the issue, Rane said, "The order passed by the government of Goa is not the ban that is imposed on the import of fish from other states. This action is taken keeping in mind the health of the people of Goa.

“I have received the letter written by H D Kumaraswamy, chief minister of Karnataka. But the ban that is imposed on the import of fish from outside states will continue,” he added.

    Why the Karnataka Food and Civil supply ministry is not giving a public statement on the condition of food adulteration in Karnataka.
    I would request the Karnataka print and visual media to educate "THE TOXIC EFFECTS OF FORMALDEHYDE AND FORMALIN"

    For the sake of the public health please release the video of testing kits which is available for less than Rs 25 kit.

    The nation's individual can't afford 'Cancer' treatment of 1-2 lakh Rupees. Kindly spread the awareness before it is too late.

    After Goa C.M. inflicted with cancer, the Goa govt. woke up with parmoline and other chemicals mixed with fish and other food items.
    Mangalore politicians may be waiting to affect such consequences, they are not bother to public health, not even bothered to establish a labortory to check chemicalised coastal fish and other food items which is killing public at large. !!!!!

    Can the Karnataka government regulate the sale of Formalin in the state?
    Is it possible to arrange fish testing labs and kits all over the state?
    This is the need of the hour and they should seriously look into this.

    Fish is a very perishable commodity. To make the 8 or 24 hour journey from any states to Goa depending on the proximity of these states, fish needs to be transported in refrigerated trucks.
    In the absence of refrigerated trucks it is obvious that formalin is used to preserve the fish.

    In today's world a people who would not feed spoilt or perished food to their pet dogs or cats; I cant understand how people impose their poisoned fish onto other people.

    Karnataka wants the Government of Goa to lift the ban on fish imports.

    The Government of Goa says: just show us certificate that the fish is chemical free.

    The notification to the effect was published by Goa in July 2018.

    If Karnatakan fish exporters cannot get a certificate in over four months, are they admitting that Formaldehyde/Formalin has become an essential part of the fish industry?

    Food Safety and Standards Regulations 2011 require an India-wide ban on Formaldehyde/Formalin in food.

    Why is Karnataka not taking this seriously?
