Mangaluru, Dec 1: With a mission to bring an awareness of clean and green nature, Vikas Pre University College, Mangaluru conducted ‘Tree Plantation-2018’ programme at Infant Jesus Joyland School in Bolar on Saturday, December 1.
Krishna J Palemar, former state minister and chairman of Vikas PU College inaugurated the programme by planting the sapling at school campus.
Ananth Prabhu G, advisor, Vikas College, Kavita Jalandar, head mistress , Infant Jesus Joyland School, Abdul Kasim , PTA president were present at dais.
In his inaugural speech Krishna J Palemar said, “Trees play a critical role in our existence on the earth. They provide us with numerous products that we utilize in our daily lives, from food to furniture, paper to cosmetics and a host of products in between. The quality of our atmosphere and our climate depends in great measure on our trees and forest cover.”
“Day by day we are becoming slaves of technology and forgetting loving the nature and atmosphere. No one is bothered about climate change. During natural calamities, we all are blaming the nature but we never discuss how we have treated our earth. But it is the time to think and take immediate initiatives to save this earth. Our young generation should take responsibility. If they come forward it is very easy to convert entire areas as green,” he added.
In his speech Ananth Prabhu G said, “Along with academic activities, Vikas PU College encourages the extra-curricular activities. “Tree Plantation-2018” is one of the important programmes organized by management and students this year. Besides this, we had many programmes mainly focusing on awareness about greenery and saving our nature. When these programmes are conducted by educational institutions, it will reach the society easily. Our college takes this as a mission and will organize series of programmes with the same motto in upcoming days.”
Kavita Jalandar addressing the gathering said, “The management of Infant Jesus Joyland School is happy to welcome the management to our campus. We are grateful for choosing our campus for their unique programme. By this programme we also became a part of ‘Tree Plantation -2018’. Obviously these programmes will help to bring awareness in society about the green mission.”
