Mangaluru: Several parts of coastal districts receive sporadic rains

Mangaluru, Nov 25: Due to the drop in the air pressure in Bay of Bengal several parts of the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi received moderate to good rains on the evening and night of Saturday, November 24.

In the city of Mangaluru the rain started around 8 pm. Dharmasthala, Beltangady, Guruvayanakere, Moodbidri, Puttur, Uppinangady, Venoor, Punjalakatte, Bantwal, Sullia, Bellare, Subramanya and Mulleria also received good rain.

Udupi city, Karkala, Hebri, Bajagoli, Muniyalu, Ajekar, Hosmar and Shirlalu received moderate rain. Halady, Goliangadi and Belve received good showers.

As per the weather update given by the meteorological department till the morning of Monday, November 26, coastal districts and some parts of south interior of the state will receive good rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. North interior parts of the state will continue to have dry weather.

In the period of 24 hours that ended at 8.30 am on the morning of Saturday, November 24, coastal districts of Karnataka and some parts of south interior Karnataka received moderate rains. Mangaluru and Puttur received 5 cm of rain, which is the highest in the state for the said period.

For the same 24 hour period Mangaluru international airport, Nelamangala, Chamarajnagar, Magadi, Benglaluru HAL airport and Virajpet received three cm of rain. Bhagamandala received two cm and Belur, Bengaluru city, Korategere, Malavalli, Bengaluru KIAL airport, Mani and Subramanya received one cm of rain.

There was a slight decrease in the temperatures of coastal and south interior parts of the state. The intensity of cold increased in north interior parts of the state. Bidar recorded the lowest temperature of 13.4 degree centigrade in the state.
