Mangalore, Nov 25: City lawyer, social worker and litterateur M B Abdul Rehman has bagged the prestigious Baliyendra award – 2008 given by Tuluverenkulu Sanghatane of Bangalore for his significant contribution to society and his initiatives in social activities.
Abdul Rehman has served as president of Central Beary Sahitya Parishat, president of Blood, Brain, Bio Bank and also served as vice-president of Dakshina Kannada district Wakf Committee. He has been actively involved in several social service organizations, cultural and literary unions. He has also bagged several awards including Rajyotsav award-2000, first Kannadiga award by Sharjah Kannada Sangh for his contributions to the society. His Kannada book Bidugadeya Dari has fetched him state-level P Lankesh award too.
Baliyendra award will be presented to M B Abdul Rehman on Sunday November 30, during a function scheduled to be held at R V Teachers College auditorium, Bangalore, stated Tuluverenkulu Sanghatane president K R Ramanat Bhat in a press release.
