Puttur, Nov 23: The dam being built at Veeramangala for the hydel power plant at a cost of Rs 97 crore is creating problems for the local people. Therefore, a proper survey should be conducted and information about the areas that will get submerged due to the said project should be furnished, demanded a resolution adopted by the Veeramangala Kumaradhara Janajagruti Samiti meeting convened at Veeramangala on Wednesday November 20.
Vasudeva Idyadi, president of the Samiti presided over the meeting.
Hyderabad-based A M R Enterprises, which is executing the project, must appoint an engineer and get the survey work done afresh. The dam should be built only thereafter. The previous survey report should be shelved. The dam should be so built, as not to create problems to either the residences of the people or their agricultural lands, the meeting demanded.
Shivanna Gowda Idyady, member, zilla panchayat, Praveen Kumar Kedanji, Samiti secretary, spoke about the merits and demerits of hydel power project.
Office-bearers Mohan Prabhu of Savanoor Ashwini Farms, Sulaiman, retired forest officer and advocate Mahabaleshwara Bhat were present on the occasion.
