Kasargod, Nov 19: A gang of robbers entered the house of a merchant located near Vorkady, manjeshwar at around 3 am on Monday November 17. They threatened the family members by brandishing a sword, before fleeing with the booty of robbed cash and gold ornaments.
The robbers enetered the home of Murattane Abdul Rahiman Haji located near Vorkady by breaking open the kitchen door located at the rear side. They then opened the almirahs by using keys and took away cash and gold ornaments kept in the almirahs. The robbers had entered the house clandestinely before taking out about 54 sovereigns of gold valued at about five lac rupees and Rs 1,09,500 in cash. When the family members were awakened by the sound, they were posed life threat by the robbers who were weilding a sword.
House owner Abdul Rahiman Haji, wife Mariamma, children Mohammed Ali, grandson Rafiq and daughter Shamshad were at home when the robbers struck. A bunch of keys that was kept in the bed room of the house owner was accessed and used by robbers for their operation. The family members got up only after the robbers had finished with their job and were about to get away.
The robbers, after threatening the householders, decamped in a jeep. A police team and sniffer dogs visited the spot. Finger print experts too were summoned.
