Mangalore, Nov 16: Winners of the ‘Muddu Kanda’ competition, organized by Kannada daily ‘Vijaya Karnataka’ to mark Children’s Day, were awarded prizes on Saturday November 15 at the newspaper’s office in Bangrakular.
Speaking on the occasion, R Dilip, additional superintendent of police, said that the innocence of children transports us to a different world. M R Vasudeva, director, Mangalore International Airport, said that children give joy to elders through their innocence and delightful nature.
First prize went to Sujan Prabhu, resident of Mahammayi Temple Road in the city and son of R Sudhir Prabhu and Sulakshana Prabhu; second prize to K Shriya Bhat, resident of Jeppu and daughter of Dr K Sayidat and Dr Supriya Bhat; and third prize to Arjun, resident of Kundapur and son of Dheeraj and Ambika. Consolation prizes were also given to 30 children.
Entrepreneur Mukund Kamath presided over the programme. D Ramakrishna, head, advertisement section, Mangalore bureau, Yajneshwar Acharya, well-known photographer, and Basuma Kodagu, well-known artist were present on the occasion.
Sudhakar invoked blessings while Krishna Bhat welcomed the gathering. U K Kumarnath delivered the introductory remarks. Harish Rai officiated the prize distribution ceremony. Mohammad Arif proposed the vote of thanks and Ravindra Shetty compered the programme.
