Mangaluru, Nov 5: “Nature is God's generous gift. We should mix, love and grow with it. Oppression of nature will not make us grow. Therefore, let it not remain as competition alone. Protection of nature should be our temperament,” said Fr Pius James D'Souza. He was speaking after chairing and inaugurating 'Prakruthi Kalakruthi 2018' competitions held at Infant Jesus pilgrim centre premises.
The third annual competitions were held in association with Naman Balok Jezu Konkani monthly magazine and Akar Innovations. Carmel congregation Karnataka-Goa co-provincial Fr Pius James and guest Dr Kuldeep Moras unveiled the name plate of the competitions and set the competitions in motion.
Dr Kuldeep said that he is a surgeon and has conducted surgery on affected organs. “I have also used wooden pieces that are cut and thrown and created art works from them. It has given me joy. Only higher education, high position and profession that helps you earn huge sums does not bring about peace in life. Art and literature teach life,” he said and wished the best of luck to competitors.
Both students and elders took part in the competitions. Amazing art works were prepared using coconut tree materials within two hours.
Fr Ivan D'Souza presented cash and trophies to the winners.
Akash Innovations Company proprietor and brain behind the competitions, Daya Victor Lobo and Konkani author Vincy Pinto were present.
Naman Balok Jezu, Konkani monthly magazine editor Fr Jocy Siddakatte compered the programme.
