Udupi: Residents of Manipal police quarters demand proper drainage system

Udupi, Oct 28: The residents of Manipal police quarters along with members of Akhila Karnataka Nela Jala Parisara Samrakshana Vedike held a protest demanding proper drainage system.

The protesters on October 27 alleged that due to polluted water flowing near the quarters, there are chances of spread of mosquito-borne diseases in the area. "Our repeated pleas to the DC and the city corporation went in vain. If this problem persists, we will hold aggressive protests," they warned.

Vedike vice-president Ambalpady Umesh Kumar said, "There are over 100 families in the quarters. We need better facilities."

Vedike state President Shrilatha U Shetty, Uday Kumar Shetty, district president Nithyananda Shetty, vice-president Sanjeeva Naik Kukkehalli, secretory Santhosh Santhekatte were present.
