Mangaluru, Oct 17: The first additional sessions court, in a judgement delivered on Tuesday October 16, has acquitted all the accused, who were arrested and named as accused in the murder of Bijai Raja which happened in the city about six years back.
Bejai Raja alias Shailesh had been slain with swords at Falnir here during December, 2012. The police, who investigated the case, had named 16 persons as accused in the charge sheet. Three among them had died during the trial period. A total of 30 witnesses were examined during the trial in the case while two more accused are yet to be arrested by the police.

Judge of the first additional sessions court here, Sharada B, exonerated all the accused, duly observing that the prosecution had failed to conclusively prove the charges levelled against the accused.
Senior advocate, Asha Nayak, Dinakar Shetty, Sunil Kumble, Jeevan Kolya, Raghu Gatti, Vishwaraj and Vinod Paul had appeared on behalf of the accused in the case.
Bejai Raja, who had been named as prime accused in Panduranga Pai alias Pandu Pai murder case, had been acquitted by the court. Raja had arrived at Falnir here at around 9.45 pm in a car on the night of December 1, 2012 and was walking towards a telephone booth when he was attacked with swords and killed.
