Kasargod, Nov 19: A man was arrested by railway police for placing stones on railway tracks in Kasaragod, in what appears to be a sabotage attempt. The accused, Akhil John Matthew (21) from Parakkode, was apprehended after a thorough investigation.

The stones were found on railway tracks at several locations, including Kiyoor, Melparamba, and Kalnad, disrupting train operations. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 1:20 am, when the locopilot of an Amritsar-Kochi train spotted the obstruction and alerted authorities.

Railway police quickly launched an investigation, detaining two suspects. Akhil John confessed to the crime during questioning and was arrested.

This follows a similar incident in Kalnad, where stones were thrown at the Vande Bharat Express, leading to the arrest of a juvenile.
