Bantwal, Sep 21: Campus Front of India (CFI) and National Women’s Front (NWF) held protests at Kaikamba, B C road on Friday, September 21 condemning rape of an eight years old girl near Goodinabali.
NWF district committee member Sumayya said that NWF strongly condemns the incident near Goodinabali. “Harassment and rapes on women in the country are increasing day by day indicating that there is no safety for women and they have to live in fear of death. It is unfortunate.”
“Police are registering petty cases against rapists, and they come out on bail and indulge in crimes again. Therefore the state and the central government should consider the incident seriously, provide justice and compensation to the child,” he said.
CFI state president Tafsir K addressing the protesters said the central government instead of passing unnecessary personal acts should pass stringent act for the protection of women and children. “The union government should pass acts for protection of school and college going children and prepare programmes to teach self-defence,” he urged.
CFI Bantwal president Nabeel led the protests. Hanif Khan Kodaje, municipal council member Manish Ali and CFI vice president Murshida spoke on the occasion.
Municipal council member Idris P J, Samshad, Zeenath Phiroz, CFI district president Imran P J, all college student’s federation’s Zian, CFI Bantwal taluk president Nabeel were present. Nasir compered the protests.
Shops remain closed, silent rally held in Goodinabali
Jamat administration committee, various organizations and people protested wearing black badges in a silent rally by walk from Goodinabali to B C road condemning rape of minor girl near Goodinabali. Shops in Goodinabali also remained closed as a mark of protest.
The protesters urged the government to consider the incident seriously. “It should provide security to the family of the girl and compensation. Remaining accused who are absconding should also be arrested and people who are trying to close the case should also be punished,” they said.
A written request was submitted to the government through Bantwal tahsildar Purandara Hegde and Bantwal SI Chandrashekar.
A meeting of condemnation was held in a mosque near Goodinabali before the rally.
Jamat president Haji G Mohammed, Municipal council member Iqbal I M R, G K Ahmed Bava, G K Basheer, journalist Farook Goodinabali, Aboobaker K H, Lathif Khan Aboobaker, Isral, Farveez, Hayaz Khan and a large number of people were present.
