Udupi, Sep 14: ‘Yuva Samagam’ a one day programme for ICYM youth of Shirva deanery was organized by ICYM Mudarangadi unit at St Francis Xavier Church auditorium, Mudarangadi on Sunday September 9.
The programme began with holy eucharistic celebration.
Around 160 youth from 10 parishes of the Shirva deanery actively participated in the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by chief guest Fr Dennis D’Sa, dean, Shirva deanery, Fr Walter Mendonca SVD, Fr Kiran Nazareth, director, ICYM Shirva seanery, Fr Francis Lewis, parish priest, St Francis Xavier Church, Mudarangadi, Dr Vincent Alva, principal Milagres Degree College, Kallianpur, Dion Dsouza, president, ICYM Udupi diocese, Shoba Fernandes, animator ICYM Mudarangadi unit, Jackson Cabral, president ICYM deanery, Vicky Mendonca, secretary ICYM Shirva deanery, Josvita Dsouza, president ICYM Mudarangadi unit and Marwin D'Souza, secretary, ICYM Mudarangadi unit who were present for the inaugural ceremony.
Fr Dennis D’sa addressed the youth saying, “Youth should follow three things namely awareness, analysis and action.”
Jackson Cabral welcomed the gathering. Vicky Mendonca proposed the vote of thanks. Junia Barboza was the master of ceremony.
Dr Vincent Alva concluded the panel session by saying, “Youth could bring about a revolution by coming out of their comfort zone.”
Fr Edwin D’Souza, director, ICYM Udupi diocese also attended the panel session and encouraged the young panelists.
Fr Kiran Nazareth conducted spot games for the youth.
After the games, Kishore Alva, joint president of Adani Group of companies addressed the youth by sharing his life experience as a youth and also encouraged the youth
for their active participation.
7 units presented different cultural programmes.
The valedictory function was presided over by Fr Mahesh Dsouza, principal Don Bosco Institutions, Shirva. In his address he congratulated the youth for the success of Yuva Samagam and gave away the prizes to the winners.
Fr Kiran Nazareth proposed the vote of thanks and thanked everyone for their efforts in making the programme a great success. He also congratulated ICYM Mudarangadi unit for their selfless work.
The other dignitaries on the dais were Fr Kiran Nazareth, Fr Francis Lewis, Br Don Prem Lobo.
The programme concluded with the ICYM anthem.
