Kundapur, Sep 11: “A model society can be built when everybody is free from addiction of vices. Those who are addicted to drugs are disastrous to society. It is essential to create awareness about drugs among young people and students,” said Kundapur additional district and session judge Prakash Khanderi.
He was speaking after setting in motion walkathon as part of anti-drug abuse month held under the aegis of Udupi district police, Kundapur police sub division, Udupi police station and taluk working journalists association with the cooperation of Lions club.
“Awareness about drug addiction is growing everywhere these days. Kundapur should be 100% free from drug addiction. It is the responsibility of all to bring drug addiction network to the notice of police and cooperate,” he said.
Justice D P Kumaraswamy, assistant government prosecutor Sumangala, Kundapur sub division DySP B P Dinesh Kumar, Kundapur SI Harish R, Kandlur SI Sridhar Naik, Byndoor SI Thimmesh, municipal council chief officer Gopalakrishna Shetty, journalists association district president, district vice president K C Rajesh, taluk association president Shashidhar Hemmady, secretary Nagaraja Rayappanamata, Lions club's Dr Shivakumar, Nalin Kumar Shetty, Bhandarkar's college SCC officer Anjan Kumar, Sharan and others were present.
Bhandarkar's College SCC students, police and journalists association members took part in the walkathon. The rally started at Kundapur Shastri circle and returned to Shastri circle via new bus stand.
