Bengaluru, Sep 5: A petition alleging excess payment to Naphtha-based power generation unit that had been functioning at Tannirbavi at Mangaluru had been dismissed by the Supreme Court. It had also ordered to review power price revision from 2000-01 to 2007-08.
In tune with this order, Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission began hearing into the matter on Tuesday September 4.
As soon as the hearing was taken up by the commission, advocate for Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry filed objection over fixing of rate. On the other hand, advocate for Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd said that they would be bound by the order passed by power appellate authority.
Chairman of the commission, M K Shankaralinge Gowda, who listened to arguments and counter arguments on behalf of both the sides, said that hearing will be undertaken only about power price revision during the period 2000-01 and 2007-08 as per the orders of the Supreme Court. He said that no other issue would be allowed to be discussed. He also mentioned that the commission also has to see that consumers are not burdened.
