Mangaluru, Sep 4: Housing minister, U T Khader, said that the beneficiaries who had been sanctioned houses through Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation and who had failed to get facilities, will now be able to live their dreams. He said that restriction that had been imposed on uploading of documents of these beneficiaries will be lifted between September 5 and 20.
"Because of relaxation of restrictions, about 70,000 beneficiaries will stand to gain. The beneficiaries, within the above period, should upload documents like foundation of their house etc," he stated, addressing a press conference here on Monday September 3.
He noted that a number of beneficiaries had not been able to construct their houses within the time limit prescribed although they had been sanctioned houses under the government schemes, for various reasons. "New beneficiaries had been picked in their place. When these earlier beneficiaries began construction of houses with delay and tried to upload pictures, they found that their names had been dropped. To enable them to wriggle out of this situation, the above decision has been taken," he explained.
Khader said that when the residences were sanctioned, below poverty line income limit had been fixed at Rs 32,000 annually which has since been enhanced to Rs 1.2 lac now. Therefore, the income limit now stands revised to Rs 1.2 lac for all the beneficiaries who have been sanctioned housing loan. "We have approached the chief minister with a proposal to waive the income limit for new beneficiaries too," he stated.
Khader said that Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation would be completely brought under e-governance within the next six months. He also said that a centre will be opened through the district administration here to officially get to know the information and problems faced by people from coastal Karnataka losing their jobs because of new rule in Saudi Arabia. He said that once concrete information is put together about this problem, an effort would be made to provide support to them.
