Udupi, Aug 27: “Udyavar as far as we know has not become unfavourable for peace. All religions including Hindus, Christians and Muslims have maintained harmony here. There is no risk of communal peace here so long as elders hold the steering regardless of caste and religions. Peace is shaky in the world. Comments that we put through social media sometimes spoil peace. When we see other countries in the world, we see only one or two languages in them. India is the only garden of peace consisting of all the communities,” said additional government lawyer of Udupi district, Mohammed Suhan. He was speaking as chief guest of 'Bakrid Sauharda Koota', held under the leadership of Sauharda Samiti Udyavar.
Fr Stany B Lobo, parish priest of St Francis Xavier Church and chancellor of Udupi Catholic diocese said that India is our country which has unity in diversity. “Though it has several states, it is one country. There are many cultures but it is one in emotions. The reason for feasts should be harmony,” he said.
Government Women's Pre-University College Udupi, lecturer Nagaraj G S, Udyavar gram panchayat president Sugandhi Shekar, Halima Sabju auditorium Udyavar director, Haji Abdul Jaleel conveyed their best wishes.
Sauharda samiti Udyavar president Wilfred D'Souza chaired the hall programme. Students presented a cultural programme after the hall programme. Abid Ali welcomed everyone. Pratap Kumar Udyavar compered the programme.
