Feast of St Philomena celebrated at Puttur

Puttur, Aug 11: Divya Chethana Association of St Philomena College and St Philomena PU College here, celebrated their annual feast of patron St Philomena on August 11 at the college auditorium.

The judicial vicar, diocese of Mangaluru Fr Walter D’Mello participated as the main celebrant. In his message he said, "Primarily we are spiritual beings. We have a purpose in our life. However, in the modern world of competition and technological progress we have not much time to have spiritual life. Human beings must try to have discipline, values, courage, faith in God, sincerity, truthfulness and strength to face challenges.’



The campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro acknowledged the support extended by donors and well wishers.

The principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo, parish priest of Maril church Fr Valerian Franc, parish priest of Bannur church Fr Prashanth Fernandes, rector of Santhome Guru Mandira Minor seminary Fr Sunny Mathew, parish priest of Panja church Fr Anil Lobo, assistant professor of PG Studies in Commerce Fr Sunil George D’Souza, assistant priest of Mae De Deus Church Fr Praveen D’Souza, teacher of St Philomena High School Fr Peter Gonsalves, parish priest of Sullia church Fr Vincent D’Souza, Fr Paul Sebastian and others participated in this sacred event.

The second part of this programme consisted of various cultural items. The principal Prof Leo Noronha, faculty members and the students of St Philomena PU and degree college participated in this programme. The president of the association Ranjith A welcomed the gathering. The secretary, Mary Malania proposed the programme.

The director of Divya Chethana Association Fr Rithesh Rodrigues coordinated the programme.
