Mangaluru: 'Swaasthya Aur Swachhata programme' successfully organised by St Aloysius College

Mangaluru, Aug 6: The department of Journalism of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) in the city recently organised a 'Swaasthya Aur Swachhata’ event at Basavalingappa Nagara, Pachanady.

The objective of the event was to bring about awareness among the people on the importance of personal hygiene and cleanliness.

The resource person for the event was Gopika Suvarna, staff of 'Centre for Social Concern’ affiliated to St Aloysius institutions. She held an awareness class on ‘Health and Hygiene’ along with an interactive session with the localites of Basavalingappa Nagara. Gopika Suvarna explained to the localites, the different ways by which one could maintain hygiene condition for oneself, so as to form a clean and healthy environment.



The main attraction of the event was the distribution of old clothes to the localites. These clothes were collected by the final year students of the department of Journalism of St Aloysius College. The students had collected the clothes from different houses in and around Kankanady driving home the thought that use of resources available such as old clothes will enable the needy to live a better life.

The staff coordinator for the event was Bhavya Shetty, Journalism lecturer and student coordinator was Parvathi.
