Kochi, Aug 1: In a glittering function, newly elected members of the students' parliament of Ryan International School, here took oath in an investiture ceremony with a large number of students, parents, teachers and guests in attendance.
The students' parliament in each of the Ryan group of schools is a replication of the union parliament headed by the President, the PM and his council of ministers. To create an environment favourable for the students to evolve as responsible and committed leaders, a students' parliament is formed through election by means of secret ballot following class to class canvassing by the contestants.
The investiture began with a reading from the Holy Bible. Praise and worship songs rendered by the school choir filled the air with joy and set the tone for the celebration. With great solemnity the newly elected members of the students' parliament were decorated with scarves and badges according to their portfolios by the chief guest Commander Amit Sharma, an education officer of the Indian Navy. The headmistress of the school administered the oath of office to the members of the students parliament. Mentored by the chairman of the Ryan group of institutions, Dr A F Pinto and managing director Grace Pinto who envision in grooming every child as a leader, such initiatives are undertaken at Ryan group of schools.
All the guests were accorded ceremonial welcome as the school band in their uniform played music at the entrance. Following the well established culture of the Ryan group of Schools all the guests were felicitated with potted plants. The enthralling melodious closing chorus sung by the school choir was a fitting finale to the celebration before everyone sang in unison the school anthem and the National Anthem.
