Udupi, July 17: Three primary suspects of the murder of Bhaskar Shetty were produced in Udupi district court in tight security on July 17. The questioning of Gulabi Shetty, mother of Bhaskar Shetty and police SP Girish on the basis of their statement was completed. Defense lawyer Narayana Poojary cross questioned both of them.
Primary accused in the murder, Rajeshwari Shetty, son Navaneet and Niranjan Bhat where brought here directly in police escort from Mangaluru jail. As there are no orders by the court to send them back to Bengaluru, they were taken back to Mangaluru.
Tight security by armed reserve police was provided in both sides of the court on orders from justice T Venkatesh Naika of district sessions court to prevent untoward incidents during court hearing. Metal detectors are installed in the court and everybody was checked before letting in. News reporters were not allowed entry. Out of 167 witnesses, the court has summoned 44 witnesses.
The hearing of the case that started on July 16 is likely to continue till July 19 as per sources.
