Udupi, Jul 17: District JD(S) president Yogish Shetty defended Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s budget and said that BJP leaders should show patience and allow the government to function.
“It has only been a few months since the coalition government was formed. There is no freedom to take individual decision. It is challenging to form a balance,” he said.
He was speaking in retaliation to BJP leader’s allegations regarding CM ignoring people of the coastal districts and demanding he has to visit the region within 15 days.
“The BJP leaders should have a little patience as it takes time to form a government. JD(S) is completing just two months. Haven’t you faced this problem before? Why now are you hurrying to solve problems?” he questioned.
“In addition, CM Kumaraswamy promised that he will continue the good schemes of the Congress government led by former CM Siddaramaiah. He has announced many plans for the coastal district. The CM has concern towards the fishing community people as well as other people of the coast,” he said.
“Rs 174 crore funds have been allotted to Netravathi river project. The mechanized boat owner’s accounts are directly credited with Rs 3500. The CM in his maiden budget announced farm loan waiver of Rs 34,000 crores. When there was pressure to waive current loans, he has waived Rs 1 lakh. Most of farmers have repaid their loans,” Shetty said.
“The CM will not escape from the currents problems. BJP is imposing conditions and this is not right. We have already met CM and spoken to him about problems,” he said.
“The Fisheries Minister is coming to Udupi tomorrow. He will visit social leaders, fishermen and there is a meeting held at DC office. In July he will visit Kodi, Kanyana and Gangolli harbours,” he added.
District JD(S) executive president Vasudev Rao, spokesperson Pradeep, Jayarama Acharya and others were present.
