Bengaluru: Selfie craze - two engineers meet watery grave together

Bengaluru, Jul 17: Reports received from Kanakapura said that two engineers working in the city fell into the water and lost their lives at Mekedatu. The victims of this tragedy were Bhavanishankar (29) and Shamir Rehman (29), both from Bidar district. Both were working as engineers for a company located in Soladevanahalli here, it is gathered.

On Sunday July 15, four friends had together left for Mekedatu in Kanakapura taluk. When they stood over a huge boulder and were trying to click Selfie duly covering the majestic flow of water in river Kaveri there, two slipped and fell into the river that was in full flow.

As additional water had been released from Krishnarajendra Sagar dam, the water flow was stronger at the time. Both were washed away instantly. Sathanur police station personnel made efforts to find their bodies after registering a case but the bodies are yet to be recovered. There is suspicion that their bodies would have been washed away to Tamil Nadu border because of the force of the river.
