Sullia, Jul 16: H D Revanna, minister for PWD, has assured in a programme at Gundya of giving a grant of Rs 40 crores to the Gurpur bridge. He also said that action is taken for road work at Konehara, Mudigere, B C Road and Punjalakattee. The minister also assured that action will be taken to develop the bridges in Mangaluru-Mani-Mysuru zone.
Speaking on the occasion, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, said, "Grant for coastal districts is low in the recently announced state budget. A special package is required for PWD roads. Priority should be given to roadworks."
U T Khader, in-charge minister for Dakshina Kannada district said, "At least rupees one crore additional grant needs to be set aside for the safety of ghat roads. An order is passed to build toilets and emergency treatment units on the road between Subramanya and Dharmasthala."
Ramanath Rai Vs Nalin Kumar Kateel
Speaking on the occasion, Ramanath Rai, former minister said, "The work of national highway from the state end is over. Revanna has shouldered his responsibility well. Now further work has to be done by National Highway Authority. MP Nalin has to take responsibility of the same. National highway and National Highway Authority are different."
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, who intervened during the speech of Ramanath Rai said, "Political talks are not required on this dais."
Ramanath Rai, continuing his speech and replying to Nalin said, "There is nothing wrong in what I have told. Certain individuals cannot tolerate the truth."
Revanna and U T Khader conducted the inquiry and said that the work of increasing the pace of projects needs to be done.
