Bengaluru: BJP opposes medical college fee hike by state government

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jul 16: "Poor and rural area students are in extreme difficulty due to the sudden and astronomical increase of educational fee of medical and dental medical colleges by the state government. This has to be retracted immediately," urged, N Ravikumar, MLC and chief secretary of state BJP.

He also said, "Under this situation, parents of rural students will have no other option but to stall the education of their children. It is not at all justifiable to increase the fee of government medical course by 300%. The fee which was Rs 16,700 in 2017-18 is increased to Rs 50,000 for 2018-19. Even the fee of government quota seats in private medical colleges is increased from Rs 77,000 to Rs 97,350, an increase of 25%.

"The fee of the government dental medical courses is increased from Rs 14,400 to Rs 40,000, an increase of 250%. The fee of government quota seats in private colleges is increased from Rs 49,500 to Rs 63,030, an increase of 27%. This proves that the coalition government, which says that it is for the poor and farmers, is just an eyewash. The fee has to be retracted immediately to the old structure,” he said.
