Mangaluru, Jul 13: 'Adopt Don’t Shop' has been Animal Care Trust’s (ACT) motto ever since its inception. In view of this, ACT has been holding adoption camps at regular intervals to find loving, permanent homes for homeless Indian breed puppies and kittens.
Over 50 puppies and 15 kittens will be put up for adoption at the camp which will be held on Sunday July 15 at Blue Umbrella School, near Kambla Cross road, Alake in the city from 10 am to 5 pm.
ACT came into existence on March 30, 2000 in order to provide care and shelter to stray, sick and abandoned animals rescued by ACT volunteers from deplorable conditions. In addition to relentlessly working toward finding forever homes for these animals, ACT has been promoting adoption of Desi breeds, as they often find that desi breeds are subject to abuse and are abandoned. These dogs forage for food on the streets, where they face threat to life from traffic and humans.
While no adoption fee is charged, ACT only collects a nominal registration fee of Rs 200 that helps in covering the basic medical expenses incurred. Potential adopters are requested to bring a valid photo ID for registration.
After the adoption process is complete, ACT will be in touch with the family for regular updates on vaccination and sterilization.
