Puttur: Child from Seraje passes away due to snakebite

Puttur, Jul 13: In an unfortunate incident which happened at Seraje in Narimogaru village in the taluk on Thursday July 12, a small child became victim of snakebite.

Agasthya, a 14-month-old son of Ravi Gowda from Seraje succumbed to the poison ingested by a venomous snake.

On Thursday night, the family members had gone to bed after dinner. The child too went to sleep by the side of its father. At around midnight, a snake bit the child. The family members got aware of the incident immediately and brought the child to the government hospital here. From here, the child was referred to district Wenlock Hospital at Mangaluru. But by the time the child reached Mangaluru, it had breathed its last, it is gathered.

On the basis of a complaint filed about the incident by the grandfather of the child, Nagappa Gowda, a complaint stands registered in the town police station here.
