Bantwal: Protruding metal piece of bus mudguard injures passenger

Bantwal, Jul 10: After a passenger came in contact with a sharp piece of metal protruding from the mudguard of a private bus, 'Mahalingeshwara', he suffered injury. This incident happened at Talapady near B C Road here on Monday July 9.

The injured passenger has been identified as Shankarnarayana. He was seated on the seat located above the wheel of the private bus bound for Puttur from Mangaluru. As the mudguard metal had broken, a piece of the metal sliced Shankarnarayana's leg. When this incident happened, passengers in the bus shouted to the driver to stop to be able to provide first aid to the passener but the driver continued to drive, which angered many passengers.

Later, the passengers realized that the driver was drunk, it is said. The driver, identified as Krishnappa, son of Sheshappa Kulal, was handed over to the police. The police also took the bus into possession. A case stands filed at the town police station here and the police personnel have begun probe into the incident.
