Udupi, Jul 8: District president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde on Saturday, July 7 said that BJP would never invite nor allow former MLA Pramod Madhwaraj to the party.
Addressing media at BJP office Kadiyali, he said, “BJP leaders conveyed their problems to chief minister H D Kumaraswamy before the budget. A delegation from BJP met the CM two days in advance.
“BJP has closed its doors on Pramod Madhwaraj. We do not need him. There are many other aspirants in our party itself,” he said.
Speaking on the meeting held on July 5 for the comprehensive development of Udupi district, chaired by MLA Karkala Sunil Kumar he said, “A discussion was held on different issues like sand mining, CRZ and deemed forest, and implementation of taluk status officially.
“BJP leaders held protest by padayatra demanding permission for sand mining. Traditional sand extraction was stopped because of GPS error and other conditions. Later the DC allowed it. Now sand is available at a cost of Rs 20,000 per load. The same problem is back again. DC and geology, sand mining department officials have to make CM understand the problem and find out permanent solution for it. Certain norms must be formed. This responsibility will be handled by Kota Srinivas Poojary who will hold a meeting with CM Kumaraswamy soon.
“There is no development u nder CRZ and deemed forest (DF). The distance is 50 meters in Kerala, but 250 -300 meter distance in Karnataka. It will effect development and tourism.
“Tthe state government has to examine and adopt Goa and Kerala model to sort out CRZ problem. Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty expressed the severity of deemed forest in the coastal district. If it is DF area, it will causes problem in installing electric poles. A delegation of BJP leaders will meet union minister Ananth Kumar and Sadananda Gowda led by MLA Sunil Kumar.
“The development of the district should be discussed in the KDP meeting.
“The earlier budget is not enough for development. Hence, the five BJP MLAs have to be give more importance to develop respective constituencies.
“Chief minister Kumaraswamy only focused on Mandya, Tumakuru and Hassan where JD(S) MLAs won the seat. He was centralised in regarding to distribution of wealth. He did not allot any plans for coastal region in the budget this time.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced support price for 14 cereals including paddy. Hence, farmers will get good price for their crops. BJP will work on implementing this at the earliest.
“Udupi district BJP has decided to conduct meeting every month and we will meet district police personnel to let them know about problems,” he said.
BJP general secretary Suresh Naik and town BJP president Prabhakar Poojary were present.
