Koppal, Jul 5: It is gathered that the family of additional deputy commissioner here, Dr Rudresh Sangappa Ghali, attacked and injured Krishnaveni, mines and geology department officer. Some members of Dr Ghali's family too suffered injuries in this incident. However, no official complaint has been filed against the additional deputy commissioner or his family by the injured officer.

The lady officer who came under attack happens to be Krishnaveni, a native of Mysuru. The attack took place near the official residence Dr Ghali located in the compound of deputy commissioner's office in the town by Ghali's family.

Krishnaveni was treated in the district hospital here for injuries sustained by her. It is said that when police approached her and asked her whether she intends to file complaint, Krishnaveni remained tightlipped.

Exact reason which triggered the attack is not yet known. The media persons who approached Krishnaveni to know the reason were greeted with silence. Dr Ghali had switched off his cellphone and remained absent from his office on Wednesday. However, sources claim this to be a fight over personal issues.

Some questions which have no answers as of now are, why Krishnaveni went near the house of Dr Ghali at 10 pm on Tuesday, whether she was summoned there by Dr Ghali or she went on her own, and why the car driver who accompanied the lady officer too was attacked.

Police circle inspector of the town station here, Ravi Ukkunda, said that the police have not received any complaint about this incident from Krishnaveni. The doctors at the district hospital confirmed that Krishnaveni visited the hospital at about 10.30 pm on Tuesday and returned after getting treatment. Thereafter, family members of Dr Ghali went to the hospital between 11 and 11.30 pm and went back after having been treated they stated.

Police and hospital sources claim that Krishnaveni was drunk at the time she was assaulted. While it appears that arguments rose between her and the family of Ghali which escalated into physical attack on one another, no one knows why a woman officer approached the additional deputy commissioner at that hour.
