Karwar: Under-trial prisoner commits suicide inside prison

Karwar, Jun 22: An under-trial prisoner in the district prison in the town ended his life by hanging on Thursday June 21.

The deceased happened to be Umesh Neelivar Bhadre Gowda. Prison staff, immediately after coming to know of the incident, tried to shift him to hospital, but Umesh, who was in a critical condition, lost his battle for life on the way.

Umesh an under-trial prisoner of Udupi prison was from Somwarpet in Kodagu district. He had been shifted to Karwar prison on January 20 this year and was facing the charge of murder.
