Bangalore, Sep 12:
Karnataka government, after the recent visits to the US by a delegation led by the Chief Minister, is expecting huge investments to the State.

Considering the responses that the delegation received during the interactions with businessmen, the State government is hopeful of getting investment close to Rs 4 lakh crore in different sectors.

Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani said the delegation attended 12 meetings and addressed to over 800 investors. “Many business firms have shown interest to invest on health, IT&BT, thermal and solar powers. The state government will have a clear picture on investments after the Global Investors’ Meet in January 2009”, he said.

The minister said that during the meetings investors expressed their apprehensions over heavy traffic and connectivity to international airport in Bangalore. The delegation had assured them that the government would set up Industrial Residential Townships.

“Townships consist residence facilities for the employees, schools, parks, hotels, shopping malls and all other basic amenities. Employees need not go outside and add to the city traffic. Depending on the responses from the investors townships would be set up”, he said. The minister said that department would also ease procedure to obtain approvals to set up the industry.

The dates for the Global Investors meet in January 2009 would be decided in consultations with Gujarat government, which is organising a similar meeting around the same time. It would be easy for investors from abroad if two states hold similar meetings one after the other, sources in Industries Department said.
