Udupi, Sep 11: A daylight robbery was reported from Udyavar on Thursday September 11. The robbery occurred in the house of Prakash Kanchan.

The thieves entered the house by breaking open the back door of the house and the incident is thought to have occurred between 11 am and 1 pm. Kanchan’s wife Anwari had been to Udupi to pay the electricity bill during this duration.

The robbers made off with 25 sovereigns of gold and cash amounting to Rs 45,000. Deputy superintendents of police Vishwanath Pandit, and M Nagaraj, circle inspector M G Hegade, sub-inspector Prakash B N, and crime sub-inspector Dharmakar Dharmetti, visited the spot.

Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were also brought in, but no clue has been unearthed so far, sources added.
